
We need volunteers to help with planning our strategy, to review our materials, and to serve on a work group or task force. Not only will you be helping the campaigns, you may learn and develop valuable skills such as:

üDeveloping campaigns
üCommunity organizing
In addition to personal satisfaction, you may also receive gift cards or movie passes for your participation!
Focus Groups
Focus groups are usually one-time activities. As a participant you may be brainstorming ideas for strategies to reach our smoke-free objectives, or reviewing materials such as brochures, posters, advertisements, etc. They usually last 2 hours and are conducted in the evening or on a Saturday.
Smoke-Free Public Transit Task Force
The Task Force will serve as an advisory group to the smoke-free transit campaign. The purpose of this campaign is to advocate for all bus stops and light rail stations in Sacramento to be smoke-free. This group will meet 4-6 times a year. Activities may include organizing a butt pick up day, monitoring smoke at a bus stop, speaking to the transit district, observing smoking at bus stops, conducting surveys, or attending events. All are welcome, especially youth and transit passengers.
Smoke-Free Outdoor Dining Work Group
The Work Group will serve as an advisory group to the smoke-free outdoor dining campaign. The purpose of this campaign is to advocate to city government to pass a law prohibiting smoking in outdoor dining area in Sacramento or San Joaquin Counties. This group will meet 6-8 times a year. Activities may include speaking to elected officials, observing smoking at outdoor dining areas, monitoring smoke in outdoor dining areas, conducting surveys or attending events. All are welcome, especially restaurant owners, young adults and adults!
