Smoke-free Outdoor Dining
In 2006, California Air Resources board designated second hand smoke (the smoke exhailed from a smoker) as a toxic air contaminant and the Surgeon General reported that there is no safe level of exposure to it. This is true for indoors and outdoors.
The secondhand smoke causes immediate adverse effects on the heart and lungs. This is why the SOL Project is working on protecting African Americans and all communities from the dangers of second hand smoke!
From 2007-2010, the SOL Project worked with restaurants owned or frequented by African Americans for voluntarily making their outdoor patios smoke-free! As a result, 21 restaurants in Sacramento and San Joaquin Counties went smoke-free in their outdoor dining areas.
Enjoy fresh air dining in these restaurants!
